Sanshou kickboxing is a Chinese martial art that allows hands elbows, knees and feet also incorporates sweeps, throws and submissions. The sport has its origins in China and initially developed by the Chinese military.
Training in Sanshou not only gets you in fantastic physical shape, but it also allows you to compete in an amazing amount of different disciplines including Kickboxing, K1, Sanshou, Qinda, Koushu, MMA & Boxing.
What is in a Sanshou kickboxing Class?
General sport specific conditioning to improve cardio, strength and flexibility. Bag and pad work out to drill a variety of different techniques. Syllabus work for those of you following the curriculum and on the grading path. Variety of different training drills to develop offensive and defensive aspects.
What do you need to know?
- Classes are unisex and we do not have dedicated male or female only classes.
- We have separate classes for adults and children on different days or times depending on ages.
- An annual membership is required after the 4 week trial period
- Classes are non-contact or contact depending on your choice or coaches recommendation.
# What to wear
Training attire is general fitness clothing such as tracksuit, shorts, t-shirt.
Footwear is not allowed during kickboxing sessions neither is clothing that has zips for those doing contact work.
Earings or piercings are not permitted to be worn during training unless covered by clothing tape or plasters.
# Pro tips
Be on time for training. These are group classes which means we train as a group, holding up a class will not be tolerated.
Do not chew gum whilst training.
Do not spit on the mats
Respect and help your training partners
Regular practice means greater improvement. Don't expect to improve as quick as someone if your attendance is poor.
